Gracie Dunbar Warren VT Accident Death, Obituary – Harwood Union High School Student Died In Crash
Gracie Dunbar Obituary, Death – The Harwood Union community is mourning the death of freshman Gracie Dunbar, 14, who died after a car crash in Warren, Vermont, on Saturday.
Vermont State Police said they were called to the intersection of Plunkton Road and Southview Road shortly before 4 p.m. The car was traveling south when the 16-year-old driver, a Harwood junior, lost control and struck a tree. Police said the driver sustained minor injuries.
Dunbar, who was a passenger, was flown to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt. The investigation is ongoing.
In a message to the Harwood Unified Union School District community, school leaders said Dunbar’s mother had asked the district to share the news. The district described the loss as unimaginable for both students’ families and said classmates, teachers, and friends may experience grief in different ways.
School leaders met to coordinate support at Harwood Union and at Brookside and Crossett Brook, where the students’ siblings attend. The district also encouraged families to check in with children and contact their schools if additional support is needed.
The district noted that the news comes soon after the death of another community member, Vinny Viola, and may deepen the grief many are already experiencing.
The crash remains under investigation. Our condolences go to Gracie’s family, friends, classmates, and everyone affected by this loss.
